DO #SOMETHINGSIGNIFICANT: MOJAMOJA
At Something Social, we believe what goes around comes around. We also believe in the golden rule (and something that’s arguably more important than the previous belief), treat others the way you want to be treated. So that’s why we started #SomethingSignificant. Every month, we’re going to share with you a new way to give back. Whether it’s volunteering at a local food drive, or spreading awareness about an issue close to your heart, your Something Social team is here to encourage you to do #SomethingSignificant.
THIS MONTH: MOJAMOJA
A message from MojaMoja…
The MojaMoja Brunch & Benefit Concert is a premier charity event held during GRAMMY® Awards weekend to benefit the MojaMoja Innovation Fund. MojaMoja has been featured in Vanity Fair, Variety, The Huffington Post, SPIN Media, Billboard.biz and VIBE. Former MojaMoja performers have included GRAMMY honorees and nominees Macy Gray, Questlove, Stuart Matthewman, Janelle Monáe, Flying Lotus, Anderson .Paak, international artists Little Dragon, Hiatus Kaiyote, Los Amigos Invisibles, and Brazilian crooner Seu Jorge. The event is hosted at the AVALON Hollywood, open to the public and attracts more than 350 key influencers, music lovers and philanthropists. During the past nine years we have honored music icons including Nile Rodgers and Sheila E., along with Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Mavis Staples, George Clinton, and Sly Stone with the MojaMoja Vanguard Award.
Artists donate performances to raise awareness and funds for the MojaMoja Innovation Fund at Liberty Hill Foundation; which supports initiatives and nonprofits empowering underrepresented, multicultural youth to pursue education, internships and job preparedness opportunities in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM). Financial contributions to the MojaMoja Fund at Liberty Hill Foundation are tax deductible and have benefited such charities as Oxfam America, Girl Scouts of America, Teens Exploring Technology, and the Common Ground Foundation.
