#SomethingSignificant: Hurricane Harvey Relief Support

At Something Social, we believe what goes around comes around. We also believe in the golden rule (and something that’s arguably more important than the previous belief), treat others the way you want to be treated. So that’s why we started #SomethingSignificant.

DO #SOMETHINGSIGNIFICANT: HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF SUPPORT

At Something Social, we believe what goes around comes around. We also believe in the golden rule (and something that’s arguably more important than the previous belief), treat others the way you want to be treated. So that’s why we started #SomethingSignificant. Every month, we’re going to share with you a new way to give back. Whether it’s volunteering at a local food drive, or spreading awareness about an issue close to your heart, your Something Social team is here to encourage you to do #SomethingSignificant.

THIS MONTH: HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF SUPPORT

Ways to get involved…

The Salvation Army: Those affected by #HurricaneHarvey need your help. Donate to @salvationarmyUS at HELPSALVATIONARMY.org or text STORM to 51555 #Harvey2017.

United Way of Greater Houston: Launched a relief fund for storm-related needs and recovery. Please click here to donate.

The American Red Cross: They are currently accepting monetary donations, as well as blood donors. They currently have a listing on their site pointing current victims to different help lines if needed.

Airbnb: They are currently working with their users to share listings of free places to stay. You can head here to alert them if you a. need a place to stay or b. have a home you can offer.

Feeding Texas: A statewide nonprofit that works alongside state and federal relief efforts. While donating food is greatly appreciated, if you can, many organizations encourage you to make monetary donations to that the food bank can best figure out how to divide and spend the funds. Please keep in mind there are more local food banks that will probably be impacted – for a longer list, please view this guide put together by NPR.

Austin Pets Alive!: A 501c3 organization that relies on your donations to continue to save companion animals throughout Austin and Central Texas. They have transferred over 235 pets to their shelter in order to protect them during the storm.
