Los Angeles has a lot to offer, whether you’re looking for happy hour spots, fun things to do during the summer, or purchase-able nature (aka flowers and plants). It’s safe to assume you’ll never really be bored here. But what are you really doing in Los Angeles if not enjoying the nature walks when you’re not stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic? Sometimes you need to escape the city life and take a walk on the wild(life) side. So here are some hikes us at the SSLA team really enjoy taking (when we’re not snapping those grams for you).
Old Zoo
Located in Griffith Park, this trail doubles as, you guessed it, an abandoned zoo. While the trail is pretty much a paved road with a slight incline, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can explore off-trail and find some really pretty spots.
Culver City Stairs (a.k.a. Jefferson Stairs)
Think Stair-Master, but outdoors version. And once you get to the top, there’s a spot for meditation, people doing yoga and other fitness-related sportiness, and views that are uncomparable (which we’ll be saying a lot about the other hikes, too).
Temescal Canyon Trail
This is the trail to head to for perfect surroundings. Whether you opt to take the mountain route, surrounded by nature and forest life, or the ridge, where you get the ocean views, you won’t be missing out. It’s also steep – providing you with a great workout along the way.
Escondido Falls
This trail in Malibu is like it’s own little Oasis with a waterfall in the middle. You can hike the lower portion or the upper portion and still experience the magic that is tucked away in this Malibu paradise. It’s also dog friendly, so feel free to bring your pups.
Runyon Canyon
As the most Instagrammed hike in LA, how could we not include it? You can enter in a few different spots, starting at the bottom or the top, depending on what kind of workout you’re in the mood for. But rest assured, no matter where you start, you’ll be sure to get the most iconic views Los Angeles has to offer.
