Best Editing Apps

Capturing a good photo is just the first step to getting the perfect gram. Next comes the edit. We’re always getting asked what the best apps for editing photos are, so we decided to round up our favorites. See our top picks below, why we love them & why you shouldn’t post without them. Capturing a good photo is just the first step to getting the perfect gram. Next comes the edit. We’re always getting asked what the best apps for editing photos are, so we decided to round up our favorites. See our top picks below, why we love them & why you shouldn’t post without them.

Snapseed: Snapseed is hands down our favorite editing app. First, it’s free and second, it’s the perfect overall photo editor. You can easily increase brightness, contrast, ambiance & control shadows. You can spot brighten an area of your photo that is too dark, or select specific areas to adjust contrast & saturation.

Facetune: Facetune gets a bad rap for being the app that people use to make themselves skinnier, but it’s actually one of our favorite editing tools. You can use it to patch out an unwanted sign on a wall, blur a background, hide a blemish or fix red eye. We’ve even used it to change the color of a table or floor in a photo, fix a label on a product and remove an unwanted person from the background. It really is a fix all app.

VSCO: VSCO is probably our second favorite editing app. There is no other photo editing app out there that gives your photos depth, color composition & tone in a few easy steps. The key with VSCO is to purchase the extra filter packages from the app store, the free ones only give you limited composition options. Test out a few different sets & find the one that fits your style and aesthetic. Once you start editing with VSCO, you won’t go back. When you stick to the same filters, it will give your feed the overall consistency that you’ve been waiting for.

Over: Over is the best graphics app out there. If you want to incorporate quotes into your feed and aren’t skilled in Photoshop or InDesign, check out this app. You can easily layer text, color & backgrounds all right on your phone.

Chromic: A good video editing app can be few & far between, but Chromic is magical. You can increase brightness, saturation, contrast & choose from different filters, just like a regular photo editing app.

A Color Story: This app is a creative’s dream. It is easy to use & takes your photos to the next level with pops of color, brightness and vibrance. You can really use your imagination & creativity to create the perfect vibrant photo for your feed. Also, you can save your presets to use for future images, saving you tons of time in the future.
